This one addresses my fellow colleagues here in Portugal!
I’ve decided to create a slack community specifically for Portuguese Software Engineers. Why?
I think my country is missing the key ingredient about software development: social communication. We need more communication between programmers here in Portugal. We need a place to share knowledge, to share experience, to teach and to be taught. I couldn’t find any community that does this, so I decided to create my own.
It’s probably a long shot, and probably I won’t have many people joining in, but I’m trying to do my part to help my community. It’s the least I can do.
I look at other countries such as the United States, England, Germany, etc and I see huge software communities being born left and right (just think about dev boot camps). These communities are amazing to bring together developers, to open doors to many people, to employ people and to make connections, and I think my country is missing that.
Slack is a bit of a bummer with registrations on slack channels, so, for now, registrations are available only by invite, but please, feel free to email me and I’ll gladly send you an invitation!
And if you know any other developer in Portugal that would like to join, let them know as well!
Again, here’s the link for the slack channel! Thank you for reading!
